Katha Upanishad

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Along with the Isha and the Kena, the Katha Upanishad is one of the ten Principal Upanishads. In fact in the Muktika, which is the dialog between Lord Rama and Hanuman, The Lord cites it as the third most important behind the Isha and the Kena Upanishad. The Katha Upanishad consists of two chapters (Adhyāyas), each divided into three sections. The Upanishad is the legendary story of a little boy, Nachiketa – the son of Sage Vajasravasa, who meets Yama (the God of death). Their conversation evolves into a discussion of the nature of man, knowledge, Atman (Self) and moksha (liberation). The Lord of Death asserts in this Upanishad that the Atman exists and teaches the precept that seeking  and attaining Self-knowledge is Highest Bliss”
